Val Plumwood

Val Plumwood was a philosopher, feminist and activist who from the 1970s to her death in 2008, passionately pursued a project to rethink the way that the natural world was conceptualised in Western thought.

Along with a large number articles published throughout her career, Val Plumwood published three books, The fight for the forests: the takeover of Australian forests for pines, woodchips and intensive forestry, which she wrote jointly with her husband Richard Routley, Feminism and the Mastery of Nature and Environmental Culture: The Ecological Crisis of Reason.

A collection of chapters from a book Val Plumwood was working on at the time of her death, The Eye of the Crocodile, was posthumously edited and published in 2012.
